Since midst of March 2020, everything is different.
We are working - if we are allowed to work - in a different way.
#homeoffice is facing most of us.
Our private life has changed. We have to act different now. No sports, no restaurants, no shopping just the necessary things.
And also the most natural things, like doing a walk or meeting friends are self-restricted.
For a good reason.
I don‘t want to moan about this radical change instead I want to talk about the consequences and opportunities which we have to face.
This new situation brings next to many misfortunes, room for a way of acting and communicating differently.
Meetings with my team usually were held face to face. Team meetings were scheduled monthly with updates facts and figures. Now as we are separated we are communicating almost daily to ensure that communication flows. Charts and figures are more and more replaced by discussions on how we are doing and how we should be acting. We are adapting our meeting routines according to the technology, the frequency, the change of content, and by focusing on other important values.
Responsibility. Trust. Engagement. Mindset. Courage.
Of course these values were in my mind and communicated before this special situation (I wanna avoid the word crisis as often as possible to stay positive). But the main difference is, that all of us are focusing on these values like we never did before. As a whole team and without any hidden agenda.
As we are working separated as a team, while it is not possible to visit our customers, this new distance brings us closer together.Closer as a team and closer to our customers.
And not only my own team is working fast and efficient. We are working together better than ever with other departments. in highly focused times the spirit and the will to solve problems and the will of making the necessary happen is stronger. It is an agile way of work, interdisciplinary and beyond borders.
A few months ago we had to discuss, to evaluate, to measure risks and to get multiple approvals. Now we discuss, setup a plan and are acting. This pressure releases new forces and we are able to act agile and fast.
But what does the future bring? We are now starting the new way we will go.
We have two possibilities.
Get back to mode „Normal“ and return to our offices working just like before. Or we can go an agile and adapted way and learn from these days where life has changed forever. We can setup our new digitalized tools to help to communicate fast, efficient and value-oriented. We can focus on these fresh and positive working styles, borderless, together and integrated. As a team. And we can listen to our customers who need help and trust. Everything in order to act fast and in the right way.
Let‘s take responsibility and let‘s move forward with adapted concepts for a new and better world. No new revelations here, but still important things to tackle now - so let‘s GO FOR IT.
There are historical moments, where future changes radical its direction. We call this „bifurcation“ or deep crisis. These times are now.
